LAHORE, March 11: The Jamaat-i-Islami secretary-general has said the US attempts to dictate the world on Iraq issue have isolated it and exposed its hypocrisy.

Speaking at the Tahaffaz-i-Insaniyat seminar organized by the Muttahida Tulaba Mahaz, Pakistan, at the Hamdard Markaz here on Tuesday, Syed Munawwar Hasan said the entire world was opposing the US policy about Iraq because it contravened all principles of liberty, democracy and human rights.

He said its insistence on committing aggression against Iraq in violation of all principles of justice and fairplay had exposed its hypocrisy.

The JI leader said the US had been isolated on Iraq issue because not only the UN, the Security Council and the OIC had opposed its policy, but the people in all countries were staging demonstrations to condemn its continuing war mongering. He said the US wanted to restructure Middle East by force and capture its oil resources. He regretted that the rulers of Islamic states were afraid of the US and framed their policies keeping the American liking and disliking in view.

He urged the Muslims to face the American challenge with the spirit of jehad with a firm belief that they would thwart its sinister designs. He said the US had failed to trace Osama Bin Laden and Mulla Omar despite its military might. He said the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal would organize another million march against the US in Lahore on March 23.

Teachers, doctors and students’ Joint Action Committee chairman Nazim Hasnain said the US wanted to plunder the oil resources of Iraq on the pretext of destroying the so-called weapons of mass destruction. He said the people of Pakistan were against an attack on Iraq, but the government was reluctant to oppose the US policy. The government wanted to thrust dictatorship on the people through the Legal Framework Order, he said.

Mahaz-i-Tulaba secretary-general and Muslim Students Federation president Rana Mohammed Arshad warned the government against supporting the US. He said the students supported Iraq and would not allow the government to commit treason against Islam.

PML-N information secretary Zaeem Husain Qadri said the US wanted the Jewish domination on the world. He said the nation would not allow the government to support the US policy on Iraq.

Fiqa-i-Jaferia leader Amjad Ali Kazmi said Allah had clearly stated in the Holy Quran that the Jews and Christians were the enemies of the Muslims, and those supporting them were not the friends of the Muslims. He said Pakistani rulers were supporting the US only for remaining in power.

Mustafvi Students Movement leader Latif Sandhu said the Americans were not tired of raising slogans of human rights, but President Bush was out to violate the human rights of Iraqi people by invading their country.
