LAHORE, March 8: The Punjab University essay writing competition winners were awarded cash prizes on Saturday.
Khalid Salim of MPA (evening programme) won the first prize, Babur Zafar Malik and Kanwal Dastgir shared the second prize, while Syed Hasan Abbas got the third prize.
The topic was ‘Need of Agricultural Management in Pakistan.
COURSE: The university would soon launch a short course for the illiterate people, said vice-chancellor Lt-Gen Arshad Mahmood (retired) on Saturday.
The classes would be held in a building on the Raiwind Road provided free of cost by the university’s legal adviser, Dr Abdul Basit, who would also look after its administrative affairs, he said.
Dr Basit said about 1,000 illiterate people between 18 and 26 years would be taught in 10-day course. They would be provided free accommodation, food and clothes besides stipends.—APP
