Bone deformities

LAHORE, March 7: Fatima Jinnah Medical College Principal-cum-Executive Officer Prof Dr Shaheena Manzoor said on Friday the industrial waste seepage was contaminating the under surface water, and causing bone deformities among children.

Delivering a lecture on environmental protection at MAO College, she said bone deformities among children in villages near Shamkey Bhattian bore testimony to the fact. She added that investigation into the incident revealed that there were chloride contents in drinking water.

Earlier, Allama Iqbal Medical College students presented a survey report, which said 54 per cent of Lahore’s population was suffering from respiratory diseases and other allergies due to pollution in environment.—Reporter
