QUETTA, March 1: Treasury and opposition benches in the Balochistan Assembly on Saturday strongly condemned the United States and its allies for possible attack on Iraq and urged the Muslim world to unite against the enemy of Islam.
The lawmakers said the Pakistan government should support Iraq in case of war as the whole world was opposing America and its allies while the people of these countries were taking out processions to show their anger over the decision of their governments.
The lawmakers expressed these views during a debate on the Iraq issue after an adjournment motion was moved by Rahmat Ullah Baloch, Mir Jan Mohammad Buladi (BNM) and Maulana Dur Mohammad Babit of MMA.
Senior Minister Maulana Abdul Wasay criticized the Muslim world for not adopting a joint stand against the United States and its allies who wanted to impose a war on Iraq just to take control of oilfields and other resources.
He said two years ago when the United States attacked Afghanistan to remove the Taliban government, the Muslim world did nothing to support the Taliban government.
He said the Muslim countries extended all facilities to the United States for attacking Afghanistan. He said now once again the United States wanted to destroy another Muslim country but the entire Muslim world was silent.
The Balochistan senior minister also criticized the Pakistan government and said that it should change its foreign policy and made it according to aspirations of the people of Pakistan. He said Pakistan should support those countries who were opposing the war against Iraq.
Maulana Wasay strongly condemned the role of the United Nations and said that this organization had become a puppet of the United States and was only protecting interests of Washington who wanted to rule the world.
He suggested that a joint protest procession of all political parties should be taken out in Quetta against the possible US attack on Iraq.
Earlier, initiating the debate on the motion, the mover, Mir Jan Mohammad Buladi, said that by imposing war the United States and its allies wanted to take control of oilfields and other natural resources of the Muslim world so that they could rule the world.
He said despite opposition of the whole world the United States wanted to impose a war on Iraq while Iraq had announced that it was ready to destroy its weapons of mass destruction under the directives of the United Nations.
He said millions of people around the world, including the United States and Britain, were taking out protest processions against the possible war.
“Attack on Iraq would be against the humanity,” he said and added that after Iraq the United States would victimise other countries of the region.
Kachkol Ali of the BNM, while speaking at the motion, said the United States wanted to make the whole world its salve and now it was the duty of the civilized world to foil its designs.
Former Chief Minister Mir Jan Mohammad Khan Jamali suggested that the OIC should come forward and all Muslim countries should adopt a joint stand and put pressure on the United States who was out to destroy Iraq just for the protection of its own interests.
Other lawmakers who spoke on the occasion were: Samina Saeed(MMA), Ms Farah Azim Shah(GNA), Rahila Durrani(PML-Q), Maulana Faizullah, Maulana Dur Mohammad Babit(MMA), Sher Jan Baloch(PML-Q), J. Parksh, Akbar Mengal (BNP), Shafiq Ahmed Khan(PPP), Dr Shama Yasmeen Ishaq Baloch(BNM) and Rahat Ullah Baloch(BNM).
The House allowed with majority of the vote to convert the adjournment motion into a resolution, which was adopted by the House without any opposition.
Earlier, the House passed a bill presented by the Law and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Mir Abdul Rehman Khan Jamali empowering the chief minister to terminate government employees. The opposition members described the bill a part of the LFO and demanded that it should not be adopted by the House.
The opposition members staged a walkout to register their protest against the bill.
