SUKKUR: Lawyers oppose attack on Iraq

SUKKUR, March 1: Hundreds of lawyers took out a protest procession here on Saturday against the US for its plan to attack Iraq.

The procession started from the Sukkur District Court and after marching on the main thoroughfare of the city terminated at the press club where a public meeting was held.

Talking to the protesters, High Court Bar Association president Nizam Baloch, District Bar Association president Bajhandas Tejwani and others said the world peace was in danger due to US policies.

They said the US was attacking Iraq to take over possession of its oil resources.

HYDERABAD: The members of Sindh High Court Bar Association took out a procession here on Saturday to condemn the possible US attack on Iraq.

The procession emerged from the Sindh High Court building, Hyderabad circuit bench, and ended at the local press club.

Speaking on the occasion, Abdul Sattar Kazi and Allah Bachayo Soomro said that the legal fraternity had always sided with the oppressed and the people of Pakistan had always supported peace.

They said that they would keep supporting the people of Iraq and also urged leaders of Arab countries to support the Kashmir issue.

They said that the lawyers did not support terrorism and called for peace.

Meanwhile, the Youth Welfare Society held a demonstration outside the press club to mark the International Day of Civil Defence.

Speaking at the rally, the Nazim of union council-11, Latifabad, and YWC chairman, Syed Faheemuddin, expressed solidarity with the people of Iraq and urged the US and the UK not to thrust war on the Middle Eastern country.
