KARACHI, Feb 26: Lady’s Love, a chestnut filly from Strides By Strides out of As Asaina, starts off as our day’s best when the Winter Gymkhana Meeting gets underway at the Karachi Racecourse on Thursday.
Participating in the sixth event with 13 runners vying for the top honours going over six furlongs, Lady’s Love should be followed home by last week’s winner Defence Academy and Jugni.
All in all seven events have been drawn up on the racing card. The first five events will be contested over the sprinting distance of five furlongs and the last two, will go over six furlongs.
The races begin at 1.00 p.m.
Royal Beauty, a bay filly owned by Makhdoom Ali Raza, although penalised to carry 9-4 on her back is fancied in these columns to win the opener from Sunday Silence and Century.
The chestnut gelding Reasonable finishing fourth last week under Khalid Nawaz, looks a good thing to pick up the spoils in the second event, followed home by Striker and Powerful Tarzan.
Slim Fit, although making an appearance after a few weeks rest, could win the following event for the mere asking, chased all the way past the winning post by Great Bakht and Ceaser’s Palace.
The six year-old bay horse Knight Fighter, if producing his last Sunday’s run, should win the fourth race for the mere asking with Naeem Touch and Charmastic Eyes battling it out for the second spot.
On that same day, the connections decided to go with Defence Academy instead of Free Lancer, finishing a good second behind stable companion Defence Academy.
Now chestnut horse should romp to victory on Thursday collaring the speedy Mah Sagar and Champion Lady.
The last race of the afternoon has only seven runners in contention. Of the lot The Champion Strides could grab the top spot from Show Time, an impressive winner last week.
