ISLAMABAD, Feb 26: The use of mobile telephone was strongly opposed on the first day of fourth session of the National Assembly on Wednesday.

A number of parliamentarians protested against the use of mobile telephones in the House when the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal (MMA) leader, Liaquat Baloch, found a noise in his microphone during his speech.

Some members, who were sitting beside the MMA leader, said the use of mobile telephone had interrupted the frequency of Mr Baloch’s microphone.

However, the MMA leader requested the deputy speaker of the National Assembly, Sardar Yaqoob, who was chairing the session, to impose complete ban on the use of mobile telephone during the proceedings. He said Sindh Assembly had imposed complete ban on the use of mobile telephone and this practice should also be emulated in Parliament.
