LAHORE, Feb 26: The NAB on Wednesday arrested former MPA Chaudhry Hakim Ali in the Dhana Singhwala land scam and obtained his 15-day physical remand from an accountability court.

While producing the accused before the court, the NAB alleged that he had connived with the principal accused for the sale of state owned land in Dhana Singhwala to certain beneficiaries despite the orders of the Supreme Court, prohibiting the sale of this land.

Allegedly, Chaudhry Hakim connived with the principal accused against personal favour and caused loss to the national exchequer worth millions of rupees.

Dismissed:An accountability court dismissed the application of PPP secretary-general Jehangir Badar, seeking amendment to the chargesheet of a corruption reference filed against him.

The court observed that the application was not maintainable since the NAB was fully authorized to try him even in private capacity.

The accused had pleaded before the court certain properties alleged to be acquired by him illegally in abuse of his official position were acquired when he was not the holder of public office. He had requested the court to delete those properties from the chargesheet.
