SIALKOT, Feb 26: A Daska court has sent dryport blast’s main accused Muhammad Ameenuddin alias Irfan Memon (Karachi) and three customs clearing agents Khalil Ahmad (Lahore), Muhammad Arshad (Hafizabad) and Muhammad Yaqoob (Jhelum) to judicial lock-up.
Earlier, the Sambrial police produced them before court amid tight security in Daska on Wednesday.
Sources said the police were still waiting for the results of chemical examinations of various samples of the explosive material. These samples were sent to laboratories in Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi.
Talking to newsmen, Daska DSP Navaid Anwar Baloch said the further investigation would be carried out in the light of results of the chemical examination report.
FOUNDATION STONE: Sialkot District Nazim Mian Naeem Javaid laid the foundation stone of the Trauma Centre at the Government Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital here on Wednesday.
A sum of Rs40 million will be spent on its construction which will be completed in the stipulated period of one-and-a-half year.
Speaking on the occasion, he said the district government was committed to provide the best health and education facilities in the Sialkot district.
After its completion, he said the trauma centre would be helpful in providing ultra-modern medical facilities to the injured people at the DHQ Hospital’s emergency ward.
He said the centre would also be connected through satellite system with the world’s best hospitals for consultation. Specialists doctors and trained para-medical staff would be appointed there, he said.
The District Nazim also announced establishing medicine banks at the DHQ and THQ hospitals across the district with the assistance of local philanthropists and business community.
He said the first medicine bank would soon be set up at the Government Allama Iqbal Memorial DHQ Hospital, Sialkot.
Sialkot DCO Capt Zahid Saeed (retired), Sialkot EDO (Health) Dr Syed Muhammad Firdous, Sialkot PMA president Dr Suhail Tufail and SCCI president Babar Iqbal were also present on the occasion.
