LAHORE: Tajammul, Majeed indicted

LAHORE, Nov 28: The accountability court hearing a reference in the matter of National Industrial Cooperation Finance Corporation on Wednesday framed charges against its former chairman, Chaudhry Tajammul Husain, ex-MPA Abdul Majeed and others.

The accused are alleged to have caused a loss of Rs1.8 billion to NICFC through different deals. The court fixed Dec 12 to record the prosecution evidence.

In a reference about alleged malpractices committed in NICFC affairs in the deal on a property known as Ahmad Mansion, the court deferred its hearing till Dec 12. Seven accused, including Chaudhry Tajammul, Abdul Majeed and Awais Zia Butt are facing the reference.

Another accountability court in a reference against ex-MPA Mian Muhammad Rashid recorded statements of three prosecution witnesses and adjourned the hearing till Dec 6.

The accused is being prosecuted for not appearing before the NAB during investigation. He also failed to appear before the court to face the reference. The court had earlier attached the property of the accused.

In another reference filed by the NAB against ex-MPA Mian Farooq for acquiring assets through illegal means, the court recorded the statement of a prosecution witness and adjourned the case till Dec 8.

An accountability court continued recording of the prosecution evidence in a reference against former FIA director Maj Mushtaq Ahmad (retired). Further hearing will be held on Dec 5.

In another reference, the accountability court allowed an application filed by Adil Javed Masnoor of the Allied Commercial Credit Cooperative Corporation for summoning the record from the Islamic Cooperative Bank. Further hearing will be held on Dec 3.

In a reference filed by the NAB against a former clerk in the DC’s office, Sardar Nasim, for acquiring assets through illegal means, the court allowed an application filed by the prosecution to summon income tax record of the accused.

Hearing was adjourned by the court till Dec 1.
