LAHORE, Feb 22: The Data Ganj Bakhsh Town Council on Saturday decided to impose a monthly fee on the opening of public call offices within its limits.
The decision was taken at the monthly meeting of the town council held here with town Naib Nazim Mian Usman in the chair.
It was decided to charge a monthly fee of Rs1,200, Rs700 and Rs500 for opening of PCOs in big markets, on main roads and link roads, respectively. The proposal was given by Regulatory Committee vice-chairman Malik Shahzad Azam.
The town council also approved a Rs145 million annual development programme for the current financial year. Development Committee chairman Abdul Samad Ghani told the council that the ADP consisted of 470 development schemes. It was decided to ensure execution of the schemes by the end of the financial year.
The council discussed arrangements for maintenance of peace during Moharram. Town Nazim Khwaja Ahmad Hassaan will preside over a meeting to be attended by MNAs, MPAs, councillors, representatives of city district government and police on Monday to chalk out a detailed programme in this connection.
The town council also adopted a resolution condoling the death of Air Marshal Mashaf Ali and other air force officials in an air crash.
