ISLAMABAD, Feb 21: Germany has agreed to send their under-21 hockey team to Pakistan as part of countdown activities for next month’s SAF Games in Islamabad.
A spokesman for the SAF Games Organising Committee (SGOC) told Dawn on Friday that during their 13-day stay in Pakistan between March 29 and April 10, the Germans will play at least three matches against the national side.
“The venues of the matches have yet to be decided and at the moment various modalities are being worked out,” he said. The German team will also be witnessing the closing ceremony of the SAF Games on April 7, the spokesman said.
“Currently we are trying to look for sponsors for the tour of the German team and are confident that we will be able to get good sponsorship.”
The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), he said had agreed to make the national team available for the matches.
PHF secretary, Brig Musarrat Ullah Khan was not immediately available for comment.
