11 countries confirm entry

KARACHI, Feb 21: As many as 11 countries have confirmed their participation in the 20th Asian Snooker Championship being held at Kolkata (India) which now be held there from April 18 to 26.

The championship was to start from April 17 but put forward for one day, Joint Secretary, Pakistan Billiards and Snooker Association (PBSA) Arif Taherbhoy said Friday.

He said according to information received by PBSA from the Billiards and Snooker Federation of India (BSFI), besides Pakistan, Bangladesh, Brunei, China, Hong Kong, India, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Sri Lanka and Mongolia have confirmed their participation in the tournament.

Host India will be entering as many as five cueists in the championship and they include former Asian champion Yasin Merchant, Alok Kumar, Pankaj Advani, Siddarth Parikh and Varun Taneja.—APP
