LARKANA, Feb 17: The Shehri Ittehad took out a rally in Nasirabad on Monday after shutting down the entire town in protest against the police for failing to recover a man, Yaseen Massan, who had been kidnapped by dacoits 25 days back.
The protest demonstration, which began from the Government College, was led by the kidnapped man’s relatives.
Hundreds of protesters chanting slogans against the ineptness of the police held a sit-in on the Indus Highway. They burnt tyres and formed barricades on the highway demanding for the safe recovery of the kidnapped man.
They threatened to broaden the scope of their protest in case of police failure in recovering the kidnapped man.
A heavy contingent of police was called to handle the situation. The Taluka police officer, Ghulam Sarwar Bhayo, tried to convince the protesters to end their protest but in vain.
Later, the district police officer, Larkana, Noor Ahmed Paichoho, arrived there to hold negotiations with the protesters seeking a week’s time for the recovery of Yaseen Massan.
The protesters then ended their protest saying that if the kidnapped man was not recovered by Feb 23, a huge protest rally would be taken out.
