LAHORE, Feb 11: The Awami National Party says it will support the NWFP government in its efforts to stop FBI raids and arrests of innocent Pakistanis, and provision of free education to poor students.
“The FBI has no right to operate in the country and arrest innocent Pakistanis on flimsy grounds and the party will back efforts made by any element, including the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal, to check its operation,” ANP president Ehsan Wyne said here on Tuesday.
He said his party would also support the MMA government in the NWFP if it would work to provide relief to the masses in health and education sectors.
INDIA: He urged President Pervez Musharraf, the Jamali government and various religious and political parties to adopt a policy on the basis of ground realities to come out of the crisis being imposed on the country by India.
“A religious fanatic and extremist party (BJP) is in power in India which does not want to see any sovereign state in its neighbourhood and has become a real threat to the regional peace. Pakistan must not give any chance to this government to impose a war on it.”
He urged the Pakistan government to ban Mujahideen outfits in the country and step up efforts to further check infiltration into the occupied Kashmir to avoid any clash with India which, he said, was being fully supported by the United States.
He believed that the military help for Kashmiris would be detrimental to their freedom movement and Pakistanis should extend only moral and political support for their cause.
He said Pakistan was passing through its most crucial time and any mistake out of obsession could cause irreparable loss to its integrity and security.
He called on the government to take the people into confidence on the threats facing the country and try its best to win support of the world, especially the Muslim states, against aggressive attitude of India.
