LAHORE, Nov 27: One DSP, two SHOs, one ASI and three constables of Pasrur, Sialkot district, were ordered to be booked for murder by the Lahore High Court on Tuesday for killing a person in fake encounter.
Petitioner Bilquis Bibi informed the court that constable Muhammad Azam Noona developed personal enmity with her son, Muhammad Fayyaz, which intensified during local councils polls.
Fayyaz was arrested but released after a few days before the polls. Later, in September, Fayyaz was travelling with his two sisters when they were accosted by a police party, headed by the SHO of Badiana police station, Sialkot district. The girls were deprived of their jewellery and Rs3,500 while Fayyaz was picked up by the party.
Bilquis Bibi said she received Fayyaz’s body after a few days with the police claiming that he had been killed in an encounter.
The court ordered registration of a murder case after hearing the counsel for the petitioner and a government law officer, besides the SSP of Sialkot.
PLEA DISMISSED: The Lahore High Court on Tuesday dismissed a petition seeking registration of a case against the police investigators who aborted an expectant Rubina Ansari, the death row woman, in custody.
Rubina and her sister Shakila were being investigated for murder when they were tortured. She was convicted and sentenced to death while Shakila was acquitted. Her appeal was dismissed by the high court.
Rubina moved another petition saying that even if the charge was true, the abortion suffered by her and her sister in custody was sufficient punishment under the law of qisas. Two lives have been lost in the course of investigation of loss of one.
She prayed that the cops who caused the abortions be tried for murder.
Justice Khalilur Rehman Ramday, who heard the petition, observed that power of attorney executed by her in favour of Advocate M.D. Tahir authorized him to pursue her appeal and not to file a new petition on her behalf. The petition was dismissed on the short technical ground.
