ISLAMABAD, Nov 27: One person was shot dead while four received injures in a clash between two rival groups at Rawat bus stand on Tuesday, police said.

The police said there had been a long-standing dispute between Malik Ashraf and Malik Sohail over collection of the stand fee.

On Tuesday, they had a brawl over the same issue but it was settled after the intervention of notables of the area, the police said.

Meanwhile, people from both the sides attacked each other and fired bullets. Panic gripped Rawat bazaar as the clash started while the traffic on GT road remained suspended for more than one hour.

As a result of firing, Malik Ashraf and four other persons sustained bullet injuries. Malik Ashraf succumbed to the injuries after reaching hospital while the injured, including Sohail Malik and Abdul Rauf are stated to be in critical condition.

ACCUSED ESCAPED: Islam- abad police are searching for a handcuffed accused Imran Hussain who escaped from police custody when he was being brought to court on Tuesday, police said. A case has also been registered against the six policemen on charges of negligence.
