SUKKUR, Feb 8: Sindh Chief Minister Ali Mohammad Mahar has said the Lab-i-Mehran, a recreational spot on the bank of the River Indus in Sukkur, will be upgraded.
He was speaking at a meet-the-press programme, organized by the Sukkur Press Club here on Saturday.
The chief minister expressed the hope a fly-over on the New Pind railway crossing in Sukkur would be constructed during his tenure.
He directed the officers concerned to prepare PC-I so that work on these projects could be started.
Mr Mahar announced Rs500,000 for the press club and accepted its life membership.
He said the press could play an important role in highlighting problems of people.
He said his cabinet members would visit every district of the province and would solve problems of people.
He further said efforts were being made to establish a cricket stadium of international standard in Sukkur.
The chief minister said formation of the Sindh border force was in its last phase.
Mr Mahar said he would discuss inter-provincial issues with the Punjab chief minister in Lahore.
Earlier, press club secretary Asad Pathan welcomed the chief minister and apprised him of problems of local journalists.
He visited the proposed site of fly-over and the Lab-i-Mehran before leaving Sukkur for Lahore.
KILLED: A tractor trolley fell into a ditch as a result of which its driver, Murad Shaikh, was killed on the spot and two people were injured near Salehpat on Friday.
Its driver was trying not to hit a cyclist when the vehicle lost its balance and plunged into the ditch.
FIVE INJURED: A wagon overturned on Sukkur-Shikarpur road as a result of which five passengers including two women were injured on Friday.
