HYDERABAD, Feb 8: Members of the National Labour Federation on Saturday staged a rally to lodge their protest against the Industrial Relations Ordinance 2002.
The protesters were led by the provincial president of the NLF, Rana Mehmood Ali Khan.
Workers of various organizations also participated in the rally, which terminated at the local press club.
Leaders of the Muttahida Majlis-i-Amal MNA Sahibzada Abul Khair Mohamamd Zubair and MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput also participated in the rally.
Speaking on the occasion, Rana Mehmood Ali, Haneef Khanzada, President of the NLF (Hyderabad Zone), the Federation’s general secretary, Shakeel Ahmed Sheikh and MPA Abdul Rehman Rajput said that they would continue their struggle until the IRO was revoked.
Condemning the promulgation of the IRO 2002, MNA Sahibzada Zubair said that it was anti-labourers, adding that the MMA would speak out against this black law in the assemblies.
hoax Bomb calls: Two separate hoax bomb calls on Saturday disrupted the proceedings of the civil and sessions courts and the property branch of the excise and taxation department, leading to massive searches by the personnel of the Bomb Disposal Squad.
According to reports, the first call was received in the office of Saleem Qambrani, one of the civil judges, at around 1:15pm. He immediately informed the BDS officials who rushed to conduct searches in the premises of the civil and sessions courts, leading to evacuation of the bar and court rooms by the lawyers.
Some of the under-trial prisoners, who had been brought in connection with hearings of their cases, had to be sent back to jails.
However nothing was found.
Barely 10 minutes after the completion of search by the officials of the bomb disposal squad, another call was received in the office of the excise and taxation department (property branch) near the SRTC Complex.
A thorough search was again conducted but the call was later found to have been a hoax as no explosive was found.
CAR RECOVERED: The Anti-Car Lifting Cell recovered a stolen Suzuki car in Aliabad here on Friday night.
The police had received information that some persons had stole the car.
