ISLAMABAD, May 8: The Islamabad High Court (IHC) Justice Shaukat Aziz Siddiqui on Wednesday suspended the dismissal of the Polyclinic executive director (ED) Dr Shaukat H. Kiyani.
He asked the secretaries Cabinet Division and Ministry of Capital Administration and Development (CAD) to submit reply on the next date of hearing on May 14.
Dr Kiyani was reappointed as ED Polyclinic on November 29, 2011 after reaching the age of superannuation age. His contract was extended on June 25, 2012, but was terminated on Sunday May 5, 2013.
Syed Zafar Ali Shah, counsel for Dr Kiyani adopted before the court that May 5 was weekly holiday but his client received the dismissalletter this day, which shows mala fide on the part of the authorities in the cabinet division and CAD.
According to him, the services of his client have been terminated in unusual haste despite the fact that there was no need for issuing the termination letter on Sunday.
He said that Dr Kiyani was working with due diligent and responsible manners and there were not a single complaint against him from any quarter.
“Neither the Election Commission of Pakistan nor any contesting candidate had objected his appointment and the government terminated him without even issuing any show cause to him,” he added.
Dr Kiyani has been facing litigation in the IHC as principal of School of Nursing of the Polyclinic, Nazir Begum Pervez, had challenged his appointment last year.
According to the petition of Ms Pervez filed through her counsel advocate Saifur Rehman, Dr Kiyani, who happens to be the husband of a former lawmaker of PPP, had interfered in the recruitment process of nurses in November last year and managed to appoint five ineligible nurses.
