SIALKOT, Feb 2: As many as 150 posts of lecturers in the district’s colleges have been lying vacant since long.
Sialkot District Nazim Malik Naeem Javaid said on Sunday that the Punjab government had given approval for filling 90 vacancies of lecturers in boys and 60 in girls’ colleges.
He said that the education department will soon issue appointment letters to the candidates selected through the Punjab Public Service Commission to fill vacant posts of lecturers in all colleges of the district.
Meanwhile, the education department has notified the establishment of the Government Allama Iqbal College for Women, Sialkot.
Owing to the rising number of students in the Government Post-Graduate College for Women, the Government Allama Iqbal Boys Degree College was made a girls college in September 2000. It was named the Government Allama Iqbal College for Women.
At present, 3,000 girl students are on the roll in the college. The Punjab Governor had approved 24 posts of lecturers and 26 of non-teaching staff for the college.
INDIAN FIRING: The Indian Border Security Forces continued firing on villages in Sialkot working boundary’s Chhumb Joriyan, Chawa, Jammu, Akhnoor, Samba, Zafarwal and Shakargarh-Narowal sectors on Sunday.
Official sources said that the Chenab Rangers retaliated, forcing the Indians to flee towards their back bunkers.
