PML-N hails court orders on Musharraf

LAHORE, April 18: The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) has described the court orders for the arrest of former military dictator Pervez Musharraf as a victory of justice.

The party claims credit for the court verdict, saying that it thwarted all attempts to give indemnity to the former military dictator.

“It’s a triumph of justice and a retribution for what the dictator had done during his regime,” former chief minister Shahbaz Sharif told the media after opening his first election office in NA-129 on Thursday.

The former chief minister declined to talk further on the issue.

Party spokesperson Pervaiz Rashid said Adiala Jail and not a luxurious palace was the right place for an absconder.

“Pervez Musharraf was first an accused, became a criminal later and now he has become an absconder,” the senator said, referring to escape of Musharraf from the Islamabad High Court after rejection of his bail petition.

He said Musharraf was now head of a political party and his previous institution (army) should, therefore, have no concern for him.

The party spokesperson said the general election could not be delayed on the pretext of fresh terrorist acts in the country.

“Terrorism will grow if the upcoming general election are delayed and only the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz can eliminate this menace from the country,” the senator said.
