ISLAMABAD: Former Pakistan captain Zaheer Abbas has said that the PCB must have hired a batting coach instead of asking former captain Wasim Akram to supervise a fast bowlers’ camp.

The former captain expressed doubts about any immediate improvement in bowlers’ skills in a 10-day camp, saying: “Instead of holding a camp for the bowlers, the PCB should have hired a batting expert which, in fact, is the need of the hour.”

On the Champions Trophy probables, Zaheer stated: “All those players who haven’t performed in the series against South Africa should be dropped,” adding that Shan Masood and Raza Hassan should be included in the list.

He also maintained that Nasir Jamshed, Shahid Afridi, Shoaib Malik, Ahmed Shahzad, Wahab Riaz and Kamran Akmal have been given too many chances despite poor performances.“New players should have been inducted into the probables list.”—APP
