QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has held the previous government of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa responsible for bad security situation in the province and said his party will work for restoration of peace there.

Speaking at the ‘Islam Zindabad Conference’ in Pishin on Sunday, Maulana Fazl criticised the policies of the KP government led by the Awami National Party.

He said the JUI-F had held successful talks with tribal elders to restore peace in tribal areas. The all-party conference convened by the JUI-F had helped in taking the political leadership of the tribal areas into confidence.

The JUI-F chief expressed concern over the security situation in Balochistan and said if the people of the province wanted to see end to violence they should support his party in the general elections.

Advocating dialogue with militants, he said if the United States could hold talks with Taliban for restoring peace in Afghanistan why couldn’t Pakistanis hold talks with militants in their own country.

The Maulana said the JUI-F was struggling for the enforcement of Islamic laws in the country and for economic development.

He said lawlessness and energy crisis were the major problems being faced by the nation today. He said his party wanted to end feudalism in the country.
