Court allows woman to live with husband

SUKKUR, April 12: The Jacobabad sessions court on Friday allowed a woman who sought protection for her life to live with her husband, whom she had married at her own free will.

Benazir recorded her statement before second additional sessions judge, Jacobabad, Syed Rashid Hussain Shah, and said that she had married Anwar Ali Khoso, a resident of Osta Muhammad in Jacobabad district, eight years ago.

She said that she had come to visit her parents in Jacobabad where her maternal uncle, Hamza Lashari, and paternal uncle, Ghous Bux Lashari, wanted to kill her on the pretext of being a kari.

Benazir fled home and sought protection from police. She was produced in court which allowed her to continue living with her husband.—BoC
