The three investigators

If you are a fan of strange events, exciting adventures and suspenseful situations, then you will enjoy The Three Investigators books. There are more than 30 books in the series which is bound to delight readers who love to read books based on crime, mystery, adventure and suspense. The books feature the daring exploits of three young friends named Jupiter Jones, Bob Andrews and Pete Crenshaw, who have formed the firm of Three Investigators. They use their spare time to solve any mystery, puzzle, enigma or conundrum that comes their way. They live in Rocky Beach, California, a town in USA on the shore of Pacific Ocean some miles from Hollywood. Bob and Pete live with their parents while Jupiter Jones is being brought up by his uncle and aunt who run a salvage yard where one can find almost anything. The three investigators have a headquarters -- a small laboratory and an office where they handle their clients. All the equipment which they use for their investigations comes from the yard and is designed and rebuilt by Jupiter Jones, who is extremely intelligent in spite of his roly-poly physique. Pete is athletic, expert in trailing suspects and doing other dangerous activities. Bob is in charge of research and records for the sleuthing firm. Together, the three investigate haunted mansions, decipher historical documents, discover hidden treasures and thwart evil plans of nasty villains. They come across walking mummies, spooky ghosts, sinister phantoms, bloodthirsty crooks and other deadly dangers during their investigations. They also get into many sticky situations but use their bravery, ingenuity and determination to come out safe and sound while the villains get their just desserts. The characters — ‘The Three Investigators’ — have been created by Robert Arthur, but many writers such as M. V. Carey, William Arden and Nick West have contributed their literary skills in the formation of the series. There is always an introduction by famous Hollywood director Alfred Hitchcock who is shown to be a good friend of the sleuthing trio. The series would remind readers a bit of Scooby-do cartoons. All the spooky characters and hair-raising situations have a perfectly normal and explainable reason as the villain tries to harm or cheat an innocent person.
