LAHORE, Jan 29: Two female MPAs from the treasury benches were absorbed in the functional art of palmistry as the house was in session on Wednesday.
A young legislator, wearing a blue suit, was consulting her senior bespectacled colleague in a green suit, apparently, about her future.
Neither knew what was under discussion in the house or whether they had any role to play in the welfare of their respective constituents.
Like a professional palmist, the senior MPA was telling the ‘legislator-client’ what was in store for her. As their personalized session progressed, the younger legislator increasingly blushed.
This, ostensibly, meant that she had been given tidings of a bright future.
In a country where premature dissolution of assemblies has been a consistent practice in the past, the young lady may have been told that next time she will be a member of the National Assembly —- or perhaps she will be given some ministerial post.
So far, no lady has been inducted into the cabinet. — Staff Reporter
