PESHAWAR: Earthquake jolts were felt across Afghanistan and northern areas of Pakistan including the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) on Thursday morning.
The earthquake measured 5.4 on the Richter scale and its epicentre was located 279 kilometres northeast of Kabul in Afghanistan, near the Tajikistan-Afghanistan border area, according to the United States Geological Survey.
The tremors were felt in many areas in the north of the country including the federal capital Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Abbottabad, Haripur, Kohat, Peshhawar, Charsadda, Malakand and Kashmir areas.
Panic and fear struck the affected areas as people rushed out of their homes onto the streets.
No damage or casualties were reported till the filing of this report.
