PESHAWAR, Jan 28: MMA leaders Qazi Hussain Ahmad and Maulana Fazlur Rehman called on Chief Minister Akram Khan Durrani at the Frontier House here on Tuesday.
Mr Durrani assured the MMA leaders that the provincial government was pursuing the policy of providing maximum relief to people. He said the government had started implementing the manifesto of the MMA.
The chief minister said it was time the government initiated solid steps for welfare of people and provided them relief in various spheres of life.
He said merit was the only criteria in redressing people’s grievances, especially while taking measures for development of the province. He said the implementation of the MMA’s manifesto would be ensured in letter and in spirit. Similarly, he added, the obstacles in way of carrying out our development strategy would be removed.
The chief minister said that ministers had full powers to run affairs of their departments and bring about changes according to the aspirations of people and the manifesto of the MMA. Mr Durrani claimed that the gulf between the government and the people had been bridged. He said the policy of consultation had been adopted in resolving long-standing and complicated issues.
He informed the MMA leaders that equal importance was being given to all parts of the province in the development strategy of the government.
The chief minister said that resources were being utilized efficiently for the welfare and prosperity of people. He further said that steps were being taken to reform society and uproot social evils. The MMA government would Insha Allah introduce such type of governance which would be exemplary for other provinces, he hoped.
He said all government departments, especially the ones relating to public service, were being overhauled so that they could be made centres of real public service.
Qazi and Maulana Fazl expressed satisfaction over the performance of the MMA govt and said that the it would continue implementing its manifesto in a gradual manner. They said people had given the MMA mandate for introducing reforms and overhauling govt departments to make them service oriented.
