LAHORE, Jan 27: The Kashmir Action Committee Pakistan has observed that Kashmiris were struggling for the liberation of their homeland.
The KACP expressed concern at the statement of US ambassador Nancy Powell, accusing Pakistan of providing a platform for terrorism in Kashmir.
In a letter addressed to the ambassador on Monday, the KACP pointed out that the people of Kashmir and their supporters in Pakistan were not militants nor do they sponsor any jihadi activities.
“Those who are striking at the Indian posts, vehicles and military personnel are not infiltrators from across the Line of Control but they are the youth of the Indian occupied Kashmir. If they are from the across the LoC, as presumed by the US ambassador, why can’t the 700,000 strong Indian army equipped with sophisticated weapons stop them?
“Pakistan has done its best to stop the infiltrators and asked the envoy if she has any evidence to substantiate her allegation that Pakistan is involved in it.
“It is strange that the armed struggle of the Kashmiris is being dubbed as a terrorist activity and viewed in isolation without looking into the total picture and historical background of the Kashmir issue.”
The letter said that the US had been the staunch supporter of the UN resolutions, demanding a plebiscite for the people of Kashmir to determine their political future. It was ironical that the same country was considering the Indian rule through forcible military occupation as legitimate. — Reporter
