CHAKWAL, April 24: The cold war between Pakistan People’s Party Parliamentarian’s (PPPP) former MPA Fauzia Behram and District President Shahjahan Sarfraz Raja took a new turn on Wednesday when the former made her grievances against the latter public.
Fauzia Behram was denied party ticket and she submitted her nomination papers as an independent candidate for PP 22 but withdrew recently.
Addressing a large gathering at her residence Ms Behram declared that she would oppose Shahjahan Sarfraz Raja and Raja Sanaul Haq who are set to contest for the seats of PP-20 and NA-60 on party tickets.
“The district president and a relative of former prime minister have spoiled my career and now I would teach them a lesson,” she warned.
She said that PML-N, PML-Q, PTI and Sardar Ghulam Abbas Group were in contact with her. “I will definitely support anyone of them and will announce a final decision in this regard very soon,” she said.
She added that she would never let her voters fall in the clutches of corrupt people.
Speaking on the occasion, Malik Fida Hussain (the husband of Fauzia Behram) said Raja Sanaul Haq had threatened him that he would never let them get a party ticket.
“I told him do whatever you want”, Mr Hussain said, adding he is a close relative of former prime minister Raja Pervez Ashraf.
Commenting on the issue of Neela Interchange he said that he and Fauzia Behram had got approval for the construction of the interchange from former prime minster Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani but when Raja Pervez Ashraf became the premier, Raja Sanaul Haq and Shahjahan Sarfraz Raja threw a spanner in the inauguration of the interchange.
“We did not lose our heart and we will keep on serving the people of Chakwal”, he claimed and added that their political doors were open. “We will decide our future course within a couple of days,” he said.
Raja Naveed Akhtar Satti and Chaudhry Aqeel who were also denied tickets for PP 20 and PP 21 are also contesting elections as independent candidates.
“The People’s Party in Chakwal has turned into a Peepa Party as it has been hijacked by those people who only strive for their vested interest,” he maintained.
