ANP leader demands royalty

PESHAWAR, Jan 23: A leader of the Awami National Party (ANP), Muhammad Jabran Adeel, has demanded that the forthcoming NFC award should include royalty for the NWFP from the net profit of the Ghazi Barotha Hydel Power Project.

The project will soon start generating electricity, and Punjab will be given its share in the profit, as the power house is being built at Barotha, Punjab. However, the reservoirs, barrages, water channels and canals are situated in Pakhtoon areas, says Mr Jabran in a statement issued here on Thursday.

If constitutionally Pakhtoons cannot receive the net hydel profit, then the royalty for the use of land and water resources should be given to them, says the ANP leader.—PPI
