Protest held against police

SUKKUR, Jan 23: Hundreds of Golo tribesmen blocked the Indus Highway, near the Kandhkot Bypass, here on Thursday morning to protest against police for failing to nab bandits who raided their village last night.

The blockade continued for three hours.

The taluka police officer of Kandhkot and other civil and police officials rushed to the area and negotiated with Golo tribe chief Mohammad Saleh Golo, who led the protesters.

After, negotiations, the blockade was ended.

Fifteen armed bandits raided a village of Golo tribesmen last night and took away two tractors, after making 25 tribesmen hostage at gunpoint.

The police after being informed reached the spot but they fled when the bandits opened fire on them.

Later, an encounter took place between the bandits and the Golo tribesmen in which Jhando Golo and Mohammad Ayub Golo were injured.

Cop dies: A police constable of Kandhkot died when a truck (QAB-6886) hit him near the Rano police post here on Thursday morning.

The constable, Ali Mohammad Lashari, was on his duty when thee speedy truck hit him. The police arrested the driver, Nabi Dad, and seized the truck.
