MIRPURKHAS, March 3: Police acting on a directive of the district and sessions court, Mirpurkhas, conducted a raid on Wadal Khan Shar village and recovered 14 bonded labourers on Sunday.
Phuladyoon police were asked to carry out the raid on an application submitted in the court of the additional sessions Judge-I by Lachman Oad, who stated that his 14 relatives including women and children had been confined to the village by landlord Wadal Khan Shar and forced to do bonded labour.
The complainant stated that no share in crop and no wages were being paid to the peasants, who were also denied free movement and medical facilities.
He prayed the court to direct the local police to liberate his relatives for the custody of the landlord.
On Sunday, the police carried out the raid and recovered all 14 peasants. They were brought to the Phuladyoon police station, where SHO Ali Khan Khaskheli said that the peasants would be produce in the sessions court on Monday.
