LAHORE: The Pakistan Muslim League - Quaid (PML-Q) and the nawab of Bahawalpur Salahuddin Abbasi have agreed on a seat adjustment formula for three districts in southern Punjab, DawnNews reported.

The agreement over the Bahawalnagar, Rahim Yar Khan and Bahawalpur districts was finalised during a meeting between PML-Q chief Chaudhry Shujaat Hussain, party leader Chaudhry Pervaiz Elahi and Abbasi, who also heads the Bahawalpur National Awami Party (BNAP), at the latter’s residence in Lahore on Saturday.

Along with allying over the said districts in the upcoming general election, the leaders also discussed other issues.

After the meeting, the PML-Q chief told reporters his party had reached an agreement with Abbasi on the seat adjustment formula.

Hussain said the PML-Q could not strike an electoral alliance with the Pakistan Muslim League - Nawaz (PML-N), adding that the various factions of the Muslim League could not come together “due to the stubbornness of one man”.
