CM Sindh presides over meeting on law and order

KARACHI: Chief Minister Sindh Syed Qaim Ali Shah on Tuesday presided over a high level meeting to review law and order situation in the province.

The meeting was attended by Chief Secretary Sindh Raja Muhammad Abbas, Principal Secretary to CM Muhammad Siddique Memon, IG Police Sindh Fayyaz Ahmed Leghari, AIG Police Karachi Iqbal Mehmood, AIGs of Police for CID special and other branches and DIGs of Police of Karachi Division.

The chief minister, speaking on the occasion, directed the police department to make all out efforts to combat the situation prevailing in the province and that strict measure be adopted to eradicate the menace of lawlessness, crush the activities of criminals, terrorists, anti-social elements and those who are indulged in killings of people.

He added that it is the responsibility of law enforcement agencies to strictly maintain peace in the province and lives and properties of people should be strictly protected.

The chief minister, while taking serious notice of blast attempts on Peer Syed Ghulam Hussain Shah near Jacobabad and shrine of Hajan Shah at Shikarpur, directed the police officers to be vigilant and careful about subversive activities of criminals and terrorists.

He directed them for extensive patrolling in Karachi and other main cities, commercial and trade centres and various highways to maintain peace in the province.

Shah directed that the activities of anti-state elements be curbed with iron hand.

Later, the IG Police Sindh and other concerned officers briefed the CM on law and order and assured that concerted efforts are under way to maintain peace in the province.
