SUKKUR, Feb 23: Jacobabad continued to witness protests by disciples of Syed Ghulam Hussain Shah Bukhari and activists of various religious organisations for the fourth consecutive day, Saturday.
The spiritual leader of Hussaini Jamaat and custodian of the Dargah Hussain Abad, Qambar, was injured and his grandson, Syed Shafique Hussain Shah, was killed when a bomb planted along the route of his caravan went off in Jacobabad on Wednesday.
Anjuman Ghulaman-i-Jeelani and Ittehad Ahle Sunnat took out a rally on Saturday against the local administration’s failure to ensure safety and security of the spiritual leader and his disciples, and expressed their dismay over police failure to find a clue to the attackers even after a lapse of four days. Participants in the rally marched through the streets of the city and converged on the local press club, raising slogans against the police and the district administration. Later, they staged a sit-in on the DC office road disrupting vehicular traffic for some time.
The protesters warned that the protest would be intensified if the culprits were not arrested within a couple of days.—BoC
