MARDAN, Feb 22: Opposition leader in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly and Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) leader Akram Khan Durrani on Friday claimed that his party would sweep the next elections in the province to form the next government.
Addressing a public meeting in Gadar Swaldher area of Katlang tehsil here, Mr Durrani said massive corruption had ruined robust and profitable national institutions, including Pakistan International Airlines, Pakistan Railways and Pakistan Steel Mills, and the people in the government were to blame for it. He said bad governance and lawlessness had made the lives of the people miserable.
The JUI-F leader said his party had formed a tribal jirga for restoration of lasting peace in the region.
He said use of force was no solution to the current security crisis in the region and that was why the US and its allies had failed to bring peace in Afghanistan despite use of sophisticated weapons against Taliban.
Other speakers, including JUI-F candidate for PK-30 Maulana Tajul Amin Jabal, said they were the main hurdle in the way of secular forces, who wanted to enforce anti-Islamic laws in the country.
They said secular forces would greatly harm the country’s interests if they were voted to parliament.
The speakers said their party would rout pro-US political forces in the coming elections.
On the occasion, around 2,000 people, including activists of different political parties, announced to join JUI-F and supported the party’s candidate for PK-30.
