Shooters to compete in three events

KARACHI, Jan 21: Pakistani sharp shooters would be featuring in the two World Cups competition in their build-up for the SAF Games being held in Islamabad from March 29 to April 7.

A spokesman of National Rifle Association of Pakistan (NRAP) said on Tuesday that during World Cup contest various events will be organized by International Sports Shooting Federation (ISSF).

Pakistan marksmen will first participate in the ISSF World Cup Shotgun Championship being held at Perth (Australia) from March 3 to 15.

Their next assignment will be ISSF World Shotgun Championship, scheduled to be held in New Delhi from March 15 to 22.

He however, said participation in India event is subject to clearance by the government and grant of visa by the Indian High Commission in Islamabad.

He expressed hope the participation in both the events will be a great exposure to the shooters in their preparations for the SAF Games.

After the SAF Games, shooters are also likely to take part in the Cyprus Grand Prix-Double Trap, Trap and Skeet Championship staged at Nicosia from April 9 to 14.

In the meantime first phase of Pakistan shooting camp in preparations for SAF Games was in full swing at Naval Shooting Complex under the supervision of two foreign coaches from Ukraine in Pistol and Rifle and Pakistan coach Razi Ahmed Khan, who is supervising Shotgun shooters camp.

PNRAP is expected to pick around 30 to 36 men and women shooters for the 12 pistol, rifle and shotgun event for the SAF Games.

Pakistan shooting team will be finalized during the National Shooting Championship staged at Gun Club Islamabad from March 16 to 22.—APP
