FAISALABAD, Jan. 21: A clerk shot dead his colleague before committing suicide at the offices of a textile mills in Chiniot Bazaar here on Tuesday.

Sources said that at about 10am, Ilyas Babar took out a pistol and opened fire on Rehan Zafar, who worked as an export officer for the mills, saying that he wanted to “check the weapon”. One of the officers informed the Rescue-15 about the incident.

In the meantime, the accused committed suicide by shooting himself in the temple.

The bodies were shifted to the Allied Hospital for autopsy.

Kotwali police said the case would be registered after the receipt of postmortem report and in the light of statements of eyewitnesses.

ACCIDENT: Three persons, including a woman, were killed and seven others injured, one of them seriously, when their wagon collided head-on with a truck near Samundri about 45km from here.

Sources said the family members of one Mohammad Din of Chichawatni, were on their way home after attending a marriage in Faisalabad. Near Samundri, their wagon collided head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction.

All the wagon passengers sustained injuries. They were shifted to a nearby hospital where doctors pronounced Mohammad Din, Naeem and Shazia Bibi dead.

Seven others, including sisters Saira, Sumera, Saadia, Rafia, and Saima and their mother Riaz Bibi, were shifted to the Allied Hospital in Faisalabad where the condition of Rafia Mumtaz was stated to be critical.

DEAD: The child, Ihsan Ali, who had sustained bullet wounds during an encounter between police and outlaws in Shadab Colony on Sunday, died in a local hospital on Tuesday.
