India has once again demonstrated its sovereignty and its odd sense of discretion by executing Mohammad Afzal Guru for his involvement in the parliament attack.

Though they are aware of and may be afraid of the repercussions in the Kashmiri community, they are quite sure that they could handle it. That might apply to the immediate situation though not to the future. Even the Chief Minister of Kashmir Omar Abdullah, otherwise a staunch pro-Indian, has complained that this execution will serve another generation of Kashmiris as proof that they don’t get justice in India.

Still, what a major difference in compariosn to Pakistan where our government is reluctant to execute convicted Indian terrorist Sarbajeet Singh, who has in a video interview admitted to his RAW connection and the killing of innocent Pakistanis by his acts of terrorism at various places, for which he was given the death sentence in 1991.

His mercy petitions, if any, should be rejected and he should be executed immediately without fearing any repercussions or under US pressure  which, in order to accomplish its own agenda, wants Pakistan to keep Indo-Pak negotiations on the forefront.

Be it our relations with India or Afghanistan or drone attacks, the Pakistani government has given up its sovereignty and is acting as a satellite to US command. It is time for our rulers to prove as to where they stand.
