LAHORE, Feb 15: The Lahore High Court issued notices to secretaries of interior and foreign affairs on Friday on a petition of two Indian prisoners languishing in Pakistani jails despite completion of their imprisonment.

Advocate Awais Sheikh filed the petition on behalf of Satya Kaur and Kanta Kumari seeking release of their husbands Mangal Singh and Ram Das, respectively, detained at the Kot Lakhpat Jail, Lahore.

The lawyer submitted that both prisoners had completed their jail terms and their continuous detention was illegal and against the principles of natural justice.

He requested the court to summon the record of both prisoners from jail authorities and direct ministries of interior and foreign affairs to make arrangements for their repatriation.

The court directed the respondents to file their replies within two weeks.
