LAHORE, Jan 20: The Sui Northern Gas Pipeline Limited on Monday maintained a balance between supply and demand, without further shutting off the industries.
During the last three days, the company had been maintaining its supply and demand at 1,100 million cubic feet. Though it got only 1,050 million cubic feet, but it was able to create extra supply of 50 million cubic feet by compressing the supply further. It also curtailed demand by snapping supplies by 70 million cubic feet to 18 industries. With the temperatures stabilizing during the last three days, the company had been able to maintain demand and supply at 1,100 cubic feet.
But, sources in the SNGPL claimed that the frequency of complaints, both for distribution and condensation, had dropped by at least 50 per cent. With the increased compression, gas supply to tail-end users had also improved, causing a substantial drop in the low pressure complaints.
The company was also able to control the complaint phenomenon by diverting its manpower from development to domestic services.
In the pre-crisis period, it was supplying around 100 new connections every day. Presently, the figure had dropped to 30 to 40 connections per day.
