HYDERABAD, Jan 20: The central body of the Taraqqi Pasand Mazdoor Federation has rejected the new labour policy, terming it anti-workers.
The central body, at a meeting held here the other day, demanded the labour policy should be re-drafted, incorporating recommendations of labour leaders.
It also condemned discrimination against Sindhi and Balochi employees of the HBL in respect of promotions, increments, recruitment and postings in foreign countries. It demanded the principle of quota in respect of Sindhi and Balochi employees should be observed.
The meeting expressed concern over the sugar industry crisis.
It urged the government to resolve the crisis without delay as it was affecting millions of workers and growers.
It deplored retrenchment of Sindhi-speaking workers from the Pak-Saudi Fertiliser Company, Mirpur Mathelo, and demanded this discrimination should be stopped.
UNION: The Hyderabad Taluka Council Workers Union has said the Sindh Labour Court-6, on an application, has restrained Mohammad Akram Rajput and Premnath Guddu from carrying out union activities as office-bearers till the decision of the case was announced.
The chairman of the union, Chundgi Lal, in a joint statement issued here on Monday, said the court had also restrained Rajput from holding a meeting on Jan 21.
