The Sindh Excise and Taxation Department and the local government advertised the gazetted posts of Excise Taxation Officer (ETO) and Taluka Municipal Officer (TMO), respectively. It proved to be a ray of hope for unemployed graduates. But it also created doubts as tests were not conducted by the Sindh Public Service Commission. Legally, all gazetted posts should be announced through the Public Service Commission. Unfortunately, here the aforementioned posts were not advertised according to the law. Moreover, the use of unfair means in the test made it possible to select non-deserving candidates. As a result, unknown people are recruited.

This practice is illegal and against the merit system, as well as against social norms.

I request the Sindh High Court and the Supreme Court of Pakistan to take suo motu action against the practice of the above-mentioned departments and order them to re-advertise the posts through the Sindh Public Service Commission, as it is the due right of Sindh’s deserving and meritorious candidates.
