Man held for ‘assaulting’ schoolgirl

MIRPURKHAS, Feb 9: Police on Saturday arrested a man for his alleged involvement in assaulting a schoolgirl.

The man, a peon in a government school in Satellite Town, has been booked in a case registered under Section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) of the Pakistan Penal Code at the Satellite Town police station.

The case was registered on behalf of the state and the complainant, Sub-Inspector Ghulam Ali Kanio, stated in the FIR that he went to the school and recorded the statements of the headmistress and some teachers.

He quoted them as saying in the statement that after receiving a complaint of harassment against the peon, they questioned him and he confessed to having assaulted the girl and sought pardon.
