SUKKUR, Jan 19: A Jakhrani tribesman and a dacoit were killed in an exchange of fire near Kandhkot on Friday.

Four Jakhrani tribesmen were on their way to Kandhkot on a tractor trolley. Near the Mashori village, Tangwani, six armed dacoits intercepted them and tried to kidnap them.

The tractor trolley driver, Mohammad Murad Jakhrani, offered resistance. The dacoits opened fire as a result of which the driver was killed on the spot and a tribesman injured.

The Jakhranis retaliated as a result of which a dacoit, Ghulam Shah Bugti, was killed on the spot. The other dacoits managed to escape.

The injured tribesman was taken to the Kandhkot hospital.

PROTEST: Villagers residing in nearby villages held a sit-in on the Indus Highway near the Mashori village against the police for failing to control the law and order situation.

TWO KILLED: Two people, Nawab Ali Bhutto and Asghar Soomro, were killed and three others injured when a taxi fell into a ravine after colliding head-on with a truck coming from the opposite direction on the National Highway, near the Ubaro bypass, on Saturday night.

All the injured were taken to a nearby hospital.

BOY KILLED: A boy, Rameez Ahmed, 13, was killed on the spot when he was hit by a goods train while trying to cross the railway tracks near the Ghotki Railway Station on Sunday.
