KARACHI, Feb 6: Fast rising duo of Shaikh Muqeet and Hasan Rasheed Khan scored 62.57 per cent to clinch the Data Steel Pairs Bridge Tournament at Aslam Bridge Hall here on Tuesday evening.

In the first set, Mitchell Movement and in the second Howel Movement were conducted so that every pair could compete against each other.

Shakeel Chandna-Shahab Sarki duo topped from North-South direction while Tariq Zafar-Zafar Zaki pair held the same distinction from East-West.

Hasan Rasheed Khan-Shaikh Muqeet finished at the tail-end from North-South direction in the early part of the match. However, they made an all out effort by experimenting new gadgets coupled with conventional bids to recover their earlier lapses in such a manner that they reached the apex to become overall winner of the title.

Azwerul Haque-Ghaffar Qureshi pair was also struggling to remain in the mainstream in the first set, but they overpowered other pairs in the second run to finish at overall second position having a total score of 58.94 per cent.

A.K. Bhurgri-Hashim Hameed remained consistent as they were third in the first set but overall retained their position with an aggregate score of 57.48 per cent.

Anwer Kizilbash and Reza Naqvi pair who were third from East West position in the first set, overall finished fourth with a hairline difference from Bhurgri-Hashim as they scored 57.12 per cent for the fourth prize.—APP
