LAHORE, Feb 5: A Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) official said on Tuesday the Punjab government rejected a power company’s offer to supply electricity to Faisalabad only because the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) wanted to cash in on this issue in the forthcoming general election.

“Faisalabad got the offer from a known power company for regular supply of electricity, but the Punjab government outright turned down the offer,” Punjab PPP information secretary Raja Amir said.

He said since the PML-N had only one issue to do the future politics against the PPP, it was not sincere in addressing the electricity issue.

“Had the Punjab government been sincere with people of Punjab, it would have focused on the power issue instead of spending billions of rupees on the metro bus project alone,” he said.

Punjab PPP vice-president Azizur Rehman Chan said the PML-N leadership had been exposed for its dual policy on the new province in Punjab.

“The Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz will be wiped out of south Punjab because of its double standards,” he said.
