LAHORE, Feb 4: The Lahore High Court has directed the Punjab University vice-chancellor to decide as per law a representation of Institute of Communication Studies’ former director Dr Ahsan Akhtar Naz.
The court passed the order disposing of a petition moved by former director of the institute challenging his removal from the post and a subsequent inquiry being held by the university’s authorities.
Justice Shujaat Ali Khan, however, clarified that the court’s order would not be construed as to the authenticity or merits of the inquiry proceedings.
The petitioner through his counsel pleaded that the respondent (VC) withdrew notification of his (Naz) appointment as director of ICS on charges of causing sexual harassment to female staff of the varsity.
The petitioner prayed to the court to order formation of a judicial commission headed by a retired judge of the high court and two senior-most professors of PU to probe the alleged incident.
He requested the court to suspend the order about his removal from the post of the director being illegal and unlawful. — Staff Reporter
